Super...T

I've had a bunch of favorite moments with my favorite little guy this year.  I love that he still wants help getting dressed (most days) and that when we go for a walk he still grabs my hand nearly everytime.   I love it.  And I know I will miss this terribly when he gets a little bigger.  But for now, I treasure every little moment...including the one where he asked to change his name.   This was a few months ago, but it's stayed with me.   We were in the car, just me and him, driving home from something...
T:  Mom, can people change their names?
me:  Yeah, some times people change their names if they don't like them.   Why?
T:  I want to change my name.
me:   Really?  I kinda like T.   What do you want to change it to?
T:  I wanna be... (big dramatic pause, and then deep voice) BATMAN!
(and he was very serious about it)

I love my little superhero.
I'll miss these days...

Favorite Spelling App

Spellosaur   Love it!
Every Monday, A (my fav girl) brings home a crisp white sheet with a new list of 15 spelling words.   As much as she loves me drilling her over and over and over, I knew that we would both grow tired of that in the matter of a few short weeks.   So, the quest began to find another (fun?) way to practice these.

I came across this app and have to say that I was not overly optimistic at first.   But, A's loved it, and it's made the mundane run through on the spelling words a little more fun.  We can also record our voices speaking her words, which A & T have had fun with as well.   The app walks you through 4 stages of learning the words, starting with sight words and graduating eventually to spelling it out.

T's actually started to use it as well, which has been a great start on sight words for him (starting his pre-K year).   My next door neighbor has started using it as well, and loves it.

Give it a spin - you can use the free version for up to 5 words to try it out!

Fitting it all in...

In between going back to work 5 days, (but 5 short days so I can do bus stop duty - yeah!), managing homework, sports practices, coaching soccer, playing soccer, training for my mid-life-crisis-half-marathon, keeping up with the laundry, shopping, cleaning and other normal everyday mom stuff, this blog has fallen off my list of things to do.   But...I've continued to find awesome new apps, places, blogs, companies, and other bits of cool info and toys.   And I've shared some of it here and there with friends and nearly always a, "wow - that was so great!", so I am trying to put the info here again.

We'll see how it goes.   Wish me luck...
